Want to share thirst for learning of music and history. Devoting myself to gaining chops in guitar and vocals. Excited about wide range of music but have true love of the standards of 1920s-50s (blues, jazz, swing, doowop, rockabilly - especially the old Tin Pan Alley classics).

Lost my life partner 3 years ago. He was a professional musician of some note and I miss his intellect, along with all the other things that you might imagine.

I want, first to find someone who loves to talk about these things and maybe if in geographical proximity to each other, play some tunes and provide some mutual comfort. Hope I can find someone who is smart and funny, articulate and well-read. (I have a large library and love books as much as guitars). Needs to be ok with very liberal political and social outlook and not into organized religious practice.

I love kids but never managed to have any (deep sigh). I love dogs and have had many great ones. I especially like big dogs My last two were Gordon Setters and my partner had a Beauvier. Currently am dogless, as I work full time and go out for music activities at least a couple of nights every week, so am not home enough to get another right now (another deep sigh). Have a cat with estimated age of 15 years, 10 months. Zora Neale Purrston was a small black stray cat when I met her and I guessed she was about 6 months old. I love horses, too, but only as an armchair fascination because I never was able to have the opportunity to learn to ride. I love horse-racing history and placing small bets on the Triple Crown races.

Besides guitar, have been toying with some other instruments. Played piano when I was younger, though not very well. Have been making some baby steps learning fiddle. Know some beginner chords on mandolin. Hopefully, someday, can devote myself more to these pursuits, but for now, am trying to concentrate on learning swing guitar and developing the ability to sing.
