New Music from & around the Old World My passions are primarily Western Classical, with Sacred Choral at the sublime pinnacle. But when I go secular or pagan, I like the Old & the Old turned New (by which I do not mean rock, metal, rap, etc.): the New Tango, the New Flamenco, the New Fado, the New Cabaret, the New Klezmer, the New Bollywood. The minimalism of Yann Tierssen or the serene Middle-Eastern jazz of Anouar Brahem. Old American jazz standards (esp. Dinah Washington's)I prefer to the glossy and/or experimental jazz of the present. Hovering over all is the mystic troubadour Leonard Cohen, to whom I've remained faithful over all these decades.
