Curtain opens; spotlights the gentleman There's more music out there than we'll ever be able to hear, so we may as well really listen and enjoy what we can.

My tastes are fairly diverse, though I adore harmony and melody. Pop, in many of its permutations, appeals to me: oldies, rock 'n' roll, bubblegum, power pop, etc. This also explains why my metal tastes veer toward the symphonic and power varieties.

To list all my favorites would be a lengthy process, so here are five bands I'd listen to anytime, anywhere: TMBG, XTC, Chicago, The Beatles, and DragonForce.

It kind of sucks that the joys of vinyl have passed us by. I've imagined how exciting it must've been to go to the record store, pick up a new LP, and come home and listen to it with somebody. Though we may not do vinyl, why don't we discover some new music together and find as many sonic pleasures as we can?

And though I profess no proficiency, I have a guitar and keyboard from which I manage to get interesting noises, phrases, and progressions. Jamming or, better yet, co-writing sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

By the way, the title is from Jellyfish's "New Mistake," which you may already have known. If so, why aren't we talking already? Just sayin'.
