My parents were both performers. My Dad was a highly successful freelance artist. Not only did he have a Bachelor's Degree in Music, he really made it when New York City was teaming with gigs for jingles, record dates, radio and television work, and live performances. My Mom was less outgoing (which in the music business makes a huge difference). She accompanied my Dad on a gig at an Upstate New York Resort called Loon Lake, where Dad was also an MC and all-around comic entertainer. But Mom (as well as Dad) taught me so much about classical music and introduced me to jazz, as a lifelong jazz enthusiast.
